Solar Ceramic Drying
Plaster of Paris moulds, used in ceramic health ware products, are loaded in trolleys and charged into special room fully insulated for drying with a duration of more than 60 hours. Hot air is produced by thermic fluid circulation in a heat exchanger is used to maintain temperature in the room around 55 deg C . The thermic fluid in turn gets heated up in a furnace oil fired boiler.
A solar heating unit in a hybrid mode could save furnace oil around 50 to 60 %. Solar heating unit needs only a minimum maintance. The switching over from solar heating to conventional heating during non-sunny period is very easy. Reduction in furnace oil leads to savings for the industry while protecting the environment.
What is the PEN solution
A 240m2 area solar air heating system was installed at E.I.D. Parry (India) Ltd, Alwar integrating on the south facing support structure. The hot air obtained is drawn by an electrical blower. The hot air is transmitted by insulated metal pipes to the fresh air inlet point of the mould wares dryer to preheat the air required for the dryer.
